Spring 2019 "Adulting 101" Workshop Schedule

 

All throughout the semester, Student Life is thrilled to offer a series of "Adulting 101" workshops that will teach you life skills that will help you thrive and survive as an adult. These workshops will cover basic life skills for both individuals who are new to adulthood and those who could use a refresher. There will even be guest speakers at every event. Take a look at the complete schedule of "Adulting 101" workshops below. We hope to see everyone there.

January 23 Student Union Adulting 101 Series Kick Off  Learn Life Skills that will teach you how to thrive and survive as an adult. These workshops will cover basic life skills for both individuals who are new to adulthood and those of us who could use a refresher if we ever learned them to begin with!
February 6  Student Union Patio Adulting 101 Meal Planning (Eating Seasonally) Want to cook great tasting food? Seasonal produce is at its peak flavor and foods in season will save you money. Come join us for simple seasonal recipes that you can make at home. Chef Steff will share tips and techniques to get you cooking and eating healthy.
February 13 2:30pm - 4:00pm Hacienda Room Adulting 101 Relationship 101 (1+1=3) It may be a bad math equation, but it is a great formula for fulfilling relationships! In this workshop we will discuss the components of healthy relationships - two people coming together to create something new - their relationship. These kinds of relationship enrich the lives of both participants. Two people who have whole, complete lives apart and bring their unique experiences, insights, and points of view to create moments to togetherness that enhance each person's life equally. This synergy creates the third part of the experience of sharing - the relationship.
February 20  Student Union Patio Adulting 101: Meal Planning (Eating on a Budget)

Want to stretch your food budget? Chef Steff will show you how easily you can create great tasting recipes by using key ingredients in new ways throughout your busy week. Learn how to get into the money-saving kitchen mindset and have a variety of meals to choose from.

February 27  SU117A Adulting 101: Marketing Yourself

How to Manage your Digital Footprint. Our digital footprint is a self-portrait we paint online so it is important to ensure it is accurate, and truly displaying who we are. Learn how to create a positive digit footprint for future employers.

March 2 – 12pm – 1pm  C102 Adulting 101 Career/Employee Dress for Success -Fashion Show

Join us as we explore the latest fashion and trend of dressing professionally. Dress to impress and secure the job of your dream.

March 6 – 9am – 12pm Library Conference Rm230 & Encanto Room Adulting 101 Career/Employment (Your Dream Job Part 1) So you want to be hired?

Come join Career Education Planning Services for a day of branding your “Resume” and learn how to be the “S.T.A.R.” of your interview that will get you hired for your dream job. This workshop will conclude with panel interviews with employers and you will get an opportunity to be fitted for an interview suit.

March 20  SU117 B & HC117 Adulting 101 Career/Employment (Your Dream Job Part 2) So you want to be hired

April 3 TBD Adulting 101: Etiquette’s - Dining for Dollars

It's common to meet with business partners to share a meal, whether you're on a business trip together, interviewing for a position or discussing the company's next move. No matter what the reason, it's important to show proper etiquette at the table.

April 24 TBD Adulting 101 Series Life After Graduation

Are you prepared in life after graduation? Come hear from recent graduates and build your network with other alumnae and current students as you learn how to overcome life challenges after graduation.
