MEChA de PC Presents a Chicanx Film & Caucus: "La Bamba"

MEChA de PC invites the community to a showing of La Bamba, a 1987 biopic story of the rise from nowhere of early rock and roll singer Ritchie Valens, who died at age 17 in a plane crash with Buddy Holly and the Big Bopper.

The showing of the movie will be followed by a discussion of the various important elements of diversity, contribution of Chicanos to American pop culture, rock and roll, and the culture of the 1950s. Through music, celebration and culture, the campus community will have opportunity to experience and learn about Chicano culture and its broader context, American culture.

This event is sponsored by MEChA de PC through a grant from Student Life and Leadership.
